Air & Water Quality Services - HydroSentinel
Current Sampling & Monitoring Practices -
Here's the scenario: ....Your Company personnel (or contracted service provider) collect air or liquid samples periodically, and conduct field or laboratory analyses. This sampling is usually daily, weekly, monthly etc.. You see the results the next day at best, or if laboratory analysis is involved, usually in a few days time. Given the window 'snap-shot' sampling of a dynamic situation, this best available data is then used to determine plant operations, licence compliance, environmental discharge, etc.. Unless this work is carried out regularly and frequently, there is no way a detailed picture can be constructed to what is actually happening, let alone preventing accidents from occuring due to plant problems! There has to be a better way to improve risk management of plant operations!
A Better Way -
How about real time data from online sampling and analysis from anywhere on your site, even from remote locations? How about alarms being sent to personnel on plant malfunctions or potential licence breaches, so that you can be more proactive in your plant management? How about being able to remotely activate changes in plant operations to prevent breaches in plant performance or environmental mishaps?
Envirodyne Group (EDG) have developed proprietary patented systems that address the above problems. Our product - HydroSentinel™ has been developed specifically to sample remote and dirty air and water streams, analyse and deliver the data in real time to a user friendly website. HydroSentinel™ has been successfully installed in major utilities' wastewater systems, to provide data on sewage parameters on industrial discharges to sewers. In one type of required application, the monitoring system -
a) takes representative samples at set intervals as required, analyses the sample, and transmits the data via GPRS telemetry to a website that hosts the information for the client.
b) if any single parameter is breached, a part of the sample is collected and preserved in a refrigerated compartment of the system, and a SMS is sent to designated personnel to collect the sample for detailed laboratory analysis. Hence if (say) a possible licence condition has been exceeded, then evidence and the time of the event is recorded, and a chain of custody has been established for the sample collection, retrieval and analysis at a laboratory.
Envirodyne Group specialises in industrial systems which have been designed to meet todays high standards. We can Design, Manufacture, Install and Maintain systems for your industrial pollutants. The power of our telemetry systems allow for both delivery of data and process control - even on the other side of the world.
HydroSentinelTM telemetry possesses duplex features that will allow for automatic control or intervention into plant processes based on data outputs such as open/close valves, stop/start pumps, etc..
Remember - 'If you can't monitor it, you can't manage it' - HydroSentinelTM - the solution to difficult and remote monitoring applications.
StakSentinelTM - is another EDG product that is specific to air quality monitoring activities associated with audit and compliance work, and is ready for Greenhouse Gas Audit work with the advent of Carbon Emission Trading (CET) schemes as they are introduced. Refer to technical article (Brochure 7) in Downloads. Many features within both HydroSentinelTM and StakSentinelTM are interchangeable.
Why HydroSentinelTM? After all, there's plenty of automatic analysers out there - what's different about HydroSentinelTM?
Well, we specifically developed HydroSentinelTM to address the problems of contaminants - suspended solids and the like - fouling instrumentation deployed for field monitoring application. Our patented sampling and sample preparation systems along with analyser cleaning systems have been developed specifically to solve many of the problems that interfere with reliability of field analysers. To our knowledge, HydroSentinelTM is the only product in the marketplace that has a successsful record for repeatable, reliable sampling and monitoring of many contaminated waterstreams such as sewers, industrial discharges containing sediments, etc., and reporting analytical data in real time 24/7 to stakeholders from any location in the world.
StakSentinelTM is a new EDG technology developed specifically for the monitoring of gaseous emissions from vents, industrial stacks, etc.. The HydroSentinelTM principles of sampling and sample conditioning for presentation to the analyser in order to minimise the potential for fouling, are also applied to StakSentinelTM. Again, wireless telemetry is incorporated into the system to transmit data to end users for real time access and assessment. OK - why StakSentinelTM? What does StakSentinelTM do that cannot be performed by other systems?
StakSentinelTM combines into the one package, a range of analytical capabilities coupled to the online sampling and analysis of a wide range of gases, along with accurate maeasurements of stack velocities, in order to evaluate online 24/7, the amount of total emissions (i.e; concentrations times airflow rate) that are vital for Greenhouse Gas Audits, Environmental Regulatory Compliance, etc.. The combination and integration of the sampling, analytical and data management components within StakSentinelTM results in a simple device to install and operate with minimal requirements for maintenance. StakSentinelTM technology is not a 'cobbling' together of components and electronics that usually require an overlay of software in order to provide compatibility between the individual components.
